First Post of the Year

Hello Everyone,
The dust is beginning to settle and I'm happy to be able to take a few moments to write to you.  We have had a great week.  Students enjoyed making some cute paper turkeys and we added them to our existing displays of our leaf paintings.

Cayden and Nathaniel were busy at home this week.  They built a car and brought it to the school.  Many of the students were able to help the boys paint their car on Wednesday.  There will be future opportunities for all students to paint something special too.

Students took their poetry books home today and there are some fun and silly Thanksgiving songs added to their collection.  Our school Poetry Fest will be held on October 31st.  Students will need to have chosen a poem to memorize and recite.  Grade 2 poems need to be a minimum of 50 words.  Students will recite their memorized poems to the class the week prior to the Festival and the two top students from each class will perform their poems in front of the the school on the 31st.  We have guest judges who will choose the top  Primary and top Intermediate student.  Poems can come from our Poetry Book or they can be a poem from anywhere else.  If you are choosing a poem that you have found yourself, please bring it to school for me to have a look at before memorizing.

Enjoy your weekend.  Please return the Poetry Books on Tuesday.
     Talk to you soon.
